And the first time I've opened up my design process

Here I am on the beach, where our home used to be – by now all the debris has been removed. We’re starting construction in 30 days.

Nothing is going to be the same — and that’s something to look forward to.

We poured so much into our Malibu home — both when we first designed it, and throughout the years. It was a place we often entertained, a retreat for our family where we really would focus on each other, and where my team and I came up with a lot of brilliant ideas. Because Malibu is magic — there’s something totally unique about its light, its energy.

And so, when our home there burnt down (read my essay about it here), the decision to rebuild came quickly.

And so did the decision to share the whole rebuilding process with you.
