Friends,
Through my design studio, on Instagram, in Harper’s Bazaar NL, I often have the chance to express myself.
But, I’ve also felt there’s more to share—to give dimension to my work and all the things I love, from a very personal point of view, connecting all the dots along the way.
So, welcome to the Wearstlerworld—a Wednesday newsletter about design, fashion, travel, influences, rationales, and limitlessness. A huge range of things that are, all together, what inspire and guide me.
At home in Los Angeles
Out visiting Marrakech, Paris, Amsterdam, Biarritz
What I put on my face at night
Where I source stone, and how it gets laid
What I mean by “foot fetish”
Overstuffed pillow talk
Green juice, red light
Artificial Intelligence, and very analog craft
MVPs of rooms, jewelry collections, bookshelves
Rubber, mesh, steel, high-gloss, and lace: all good things in design
Historic—Classic—Vintage—Next
Refined or rough
Silliness or seriousness
Things to watch, things to listen to, and things to experience
But don’t call this “lifestyle”.
To loosely quote a great designer, the process of design is nothing more or less than relating everything to everything. Myself in the studio is the same ‘myself’ that is unwinding, getting dressed, in love with motherhood, very particular about travel.
And, you’ll find that if you really have a point of view in life, that point of view influences all things. I think there is great power and fulfillment in finding the red thread between all that you’re attracted to, and intrigued by.
The success of “Kelly Wearstler” in what is a very tough, ever-evolving industry (as so many are) means that I am often asked “How?” The answer, of course, is by relating everything to everything. Above all else, this newsletter is about exploring these relationships—so it could never be about just one thing.
What I hope you take away from reading are reasons to buck or bend trends, names to keep on your radar, and fresh attitudes towards classics.
I think the places, people, things that perk me up will do the same to you.
See you every Wednesday,
I didn’t know I’d been waiting for this, from you. So excited 💕✨
omg yess!! love your work <3
