BLOOM CONTROL: a playbook for spring florals
Vases, vessels, flowers, and arranging — and what they teach me about approaching any design project
Wearstlerworld,
One of the reasons I love to collect is because it becomes a treasure trove of something more than just “objects” or “art”—it’s a whole story. Where you got it, who from or who with, and the meaning to you of its design.
Vases and vessels are one category I really have so much fun with, and I often tell people interested in collecting that it’s a fantastic place to start—they are both functional and sculptural. You can find incredibly inexpensive ones and also museum-worthy pieces, which can sit so easily together. And, given the fact you’ll always be switching out floral arrangements, they represent to me a sense of endless possibility.
The Spring holidays are almost upon us, and it’s definitely a time for that kind of optimism, newness, and bright and bold ideas.
Today, I want to share favorites from my home, tips from me and some of the best young florists in the world on making the most of flowers (and fruit, and herbs…), and the best vases and vessels that you might want to add to (or kick off) a budding collection.
